Jessica Campbell

World Champion, 14+ year WHL Champion and 1st Female Pro Hockey Coach

Jessica Campbell has etched her name in the annals of hockey history as a formidable player and a groundbreaking coach. With a career spanning over 14 years in the Western Hockey League (WHL), she has not only emerged as a seasoned champion on the ice but has also shattered gender barriers as the first female professional hockey coach.

As team captain, Campbell led Canada’s national under-18 team to a gold medal at the 2010 IIHF Women’s U18 World Championship. In addition to leading all players in scoring, she scored the game-winning overtime goal in the gold medal game against the US. She was named MVP and coaches selected her as a top-three player for Canada.

After retiring from the Canadian national team in 2017, Campbell began coaching. In July 2022, she was hired as assistant coach of the Coachella Valley Firebirds, the top minor league affiliate of the NHL’s Seattle Kraken. Her new role made her the first woman to become a full-time behind-the-bench coach in the AHL

As a coach, Jessica brings a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of the game. Her leadership style combines the discipline instilled during her playing days with a progressive and inclusive approach to coaching. Through mentorship and guidance, she aims to foster a new generation of hockey players, irrespective of gender, who are driven by passion, skill, and a love for the game.
